I originally had something different planned for today but I scratched that and moved it to another day. Today I do want to talk about goals. I’m not doing a goal planning episode today, instead, I’m talking about why goals are important to have. It’s going to be a short quick, episode.
If you don’t have any goals then that means you don’t have anything that you want to strive for or hit. Everyone is talking about goals for 2020. Everyone is planning their goals for 2020 as am I. At the end I will tell you about some goal seminars that I have going on that are free to you. Here’s the thing. If you don’t have something you want to reach, then what’s the point?
Isn’t there a purpose to you having a business? And if you don’t know what those goals are, how are you going to create a strategy, a roadmap to hit those goals. The purpose of you owning a business is to make money. That’s really the bottom line, if not then you should have a non-profit. The purpose of a business is to make money. Yes, it is also to help people or provide them with something etc. but the underlying thing is for you to make money. In order for your business to grow, in order for your business to make money, in order for you to make money so you can help more people, you have to know what you want to achieve in the next year.
If you don’t know what you want to achieve then you need to sit down and think about it. It would probably help you to jump on my goal planning seminar. There is something I want to talk about though. If you did not achieve your goals that you set for 2019 then it’s ok. You can feel bad about it and move on.
2020 is a new year. You can set new goals. You can actually look at them regularly along with the strategy you are going to create to achieve them. When people typically set goals, when they write them down on paper, they write them down and then look at them maybe 2 or 3 times a year and then they call it a day. They have no plan on how to achieve them. There’s no roadmap to follow on how to achieve those goals. They just get written down and they are a dream and a wish.
The thing with goals is, if you actually want to hit them then you need a plan to get there. If you didn’t hit your goals for 2019 then forget them. If you did hit your goals then what you want to think about is what you did right, and how you can improve upon that so you can hit your bigger goals in 2020. If you didn’t get to accomplish everything you wanted to accomplish in 2019 well 2020 is a new year.
You need to write it down on paper. I firmly believe writing things down helps you remember them later on, but also this way you can continue to look at them throughout the year. Once you write them down, then you need to make a plan on how you are going to get there. This is typically something people don’t do. They write down that they want a new car in 2020 but they don’t say how they are going to get it. You want to raise your revenue by 20% but you never say how you are going to do that. You need to know your goals and your plan and how you are going to make it happen because it’s not just going to happen.
If you are interested in signing up for my goal planning seminars then I have two options for you. You can go to my website to view both options www.annapaszkiet.com/events. There is an in-person event if you are in the south or west suburbs of Chicago and then there’s a virtual event. Once you know where you want to go then we can plan for the path for you to get there.
