Self-help Book Review
My March self-help book review is You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. This book was sent to me by a friend and I was excited to read it.
I’m going to give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The book is written by a success coach who gives you inspiring stories, advice, and exercises you can use if you are ready to make a change in your life. It follows the Laws of Attraction (if you haven’t read any self-help books then google the Laws of Attraction). The book is all about setting goals, facing your fears and taking big risks and of course making money! This book is not a dry boring read. She looks at life with humor and in a realistic way that sometimes you don’t get from these self-help books.
If you are a fan of self-help books then there isn’t anything new in this one it is just the way she phrases it that makes you think and take a second look at your life. There are a few things that made me stop at 4 stars. She swears a lot and calls people who don’t fit her ideology names. The swearing doesn’t bother me…I swear all the time but when used with the name calling to the extent she did, it starts to turn you off a little bit.
I have been on a kick of reading self-help, motivating and awesome books by women and this one fits the bill. She has other books so I’m going to check them out. If you haven’t read many self-help books and you don’t mind swearing then you can give this book a shot. It was definitely entertaining!
